Greve Opera Academy & Music Festival is for young opera singers who seek the opportunity to perform leading roles in fully staged opera productions with a professional orchestra. We focus on providing artistic excellence combined with practical professional experience. The 2024 Edition of the festival will feature a production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, as well as other concerts and recitals. Opera performances and concerts will take place in Greve-in-Chianti and in Florence.
Recent students have come from the US, Italy, Canada, China, Austria, Poland, Romania, Cypress, and Australia. Many have gone on to perform with Connecticut Lyric Opera and the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra back in the US in main-stage productions/performances. In addition to career-building instruction, role preparation, and invaluable performance opportunities, life-long friendships have been forged in the idyllic Tuscan surroundings.
The Greve Chamber Music Festival is for dedicated middle school, high school, and college-aged music students. The program focuses on performance preparation, cultural enrichment, and immersion in Italian cultural heritage. The festival consists of public concerts, private coaching, and master classes with performing artists from Europe and the United States.
Included in the program are visits to historical cities, sites, museums, and vineyards in Tuscany. Qualified students will have the opportunity to experience working in a professional opera orchestra.
Greve Opera Academy and Music Festival is a collaborative effort between the American performing organizations Connecticut Lyric Opera and Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and the municipality of Greve in Chianti in Tuscany, Italy.
