2026 GOA Artists

Emanuele Nasuto (Italia, Figaro, basso). Italian baritone Emanuele Nasuto, 17, is at the beginning of his musical journey. He has been studying with the renowned baritone Armando Ariostini for the past two years, and in September 2025 he was awarded a scholarship at the Giovani Voci a Casa Verdi competition. A member of the Coro Cittadino di Saronno, he has sung as a soloist with the choir under the baton of Chiara Caronni since childhood. Over the past two years, he has also appeared as a soloist in concerts at Casa Verdi in Milan. In February 2026, he made his role debut as Notaio in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale at Teatro PIME in Milan. He will make his role debut as Figaro this July at the Greve Opera Academy.

Melissa Scarpelli (USA, Susanna, soprano) Melissa Scarpelli is an American soprano hailing from Chico, California. She recently received her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at Boston Conservatory. She debuted Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro with Keystone Opera in 2025 and is excited to perform the role again in Italy. In May of 2026, she was a national semifinalist of the Classical Singer Vocal Competition. She has also performed as a Chorus member in Boston Lyric Opera’s production of Aïda and Boston Conservatory’s production of Cosí fan tutte.

Viola Di Palma (Italia/Polonia, Contessa d’Almaviva, soprano)
Italian-Polish soprano Viola Di Palma was born in Naples and trained at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where she completed her master’s degree in solo singing. She has since deepened her artistry through masterclasses with Andreas Scholl at the Accademia Chigiana, Mariusz Kwiecień’s “Reach the Stars” program, and the Boston Conservatory Opera Intensive in Valencia, and currently studies privately with Kaludi Kaludov. On stage, she has portrayed Mimì in La Bohème with Opera Role Lab in Lucca, Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro (Berlin and Genoa), Belinda and First Witch in Dido and Aeneas (Ferrara and Padua), and soloist roles in Händel’s Brockes-Passion and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. She will next debut the role of Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro with Greve Opera Academy. Her competition honors include a Special Prize at the Stoyan Popov Competition (Burgas), 2nd Prize at the Napolinova World Voice E-Competition, and 3rd Prize at the Halina Słonicka International Competition. A versatile recitalist, she has performed programs of Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, and Moniuszko across Italy and Poland, and is preparing further roles including Micaela, Donna Elvira, and Fiordiligi. Fluent in Italian, English, and Polish, she is based in Warsaw.

Katie Buchanan (USA, Cherubino, mezzo-soprano)
American mezzo-soprano Katie Buchanan recently completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Kentucky. In her time at university, she performed roles such as Hänsel in Humperdinck’s “Hänsel and Gretel” and Dame Doleful in Penhorwood’s “Too Many Sopranos”. She made her opera debut as Third Lady in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” with the Alexandria Summer Nights opera program in 2023. She will be continuing her education this fall by pursuing a master’s degree at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Xiaoyue Guo (China, Marcellina, soprano)
Xiaoyue Guo is a soprano who recently earned a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Longy School of Music of Bard College. She previously completed her undergraduate studies at East China Normal University. Her performance experience includes the role of Nala in Meow and Forever, Townsperson in The Bayou Legend, and selected scenes from Le nozze di Figaro, La bohème, Blondine, Die lustige Witwe, L’incoronazione di Poppea, and Candide. She received Second Prize in the 2025 American Midwest Chamber and Vocal Music Competition (Professional Division), an Honorable Mention in the Finals of the Korea–China International Vocal Competition, and the Performance Award at the Chinese Peafowl Award.

Massimo Dolfi

Massimo Dolfi (Italia, Conte d’Almaviva, baritono)**
He began his studies in operatic singing in 1995, refining his technique from 2017 to 2021 under the guidance of the celebrated baritone Carlo Meliciani. He continues his vocal development with soprano and teacher Patrizia Morandini. He boasts a solid background in comprimario repertoire, having performed solo roles in more than 80 opera productions. Among his most notable appearances are the Sacristan (Tosca), Baron Douphol (La traviata), Benoît/Alcindoro (La bohème), and Fiorello (Il barbiere di Siviglia). In 2019 he made a successful role debut as Gianni Schicchi at the Teatro San Girolamo in Lucca. In recent years he has expanded his repertoire to include Alfio (Cavalleria rusticana), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Giorgio Germont (La traviata), and Aeneas (Dido and Aeneas), a role he has presented on several occasions, including a distinguished performance at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. Upcoming role debuts in 2026 include Il Conte (Le nozze di Figaro) and Michele (Il tabarro). He has collaborated with numerous opera companies and theatres, performing regularly as a soloist in a wide range of operatic concerts.

Gayane Ghambaryan, Armenia (soprano)

Gayane Ghambaryan (Armenia, Barbarina, soprano)* The winner of the first prize at the 2023 UK international “Golden Talent” competition, the first prize at the 2018 “New 8th Sound” competition in Armenia, and the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theater soloist, Gayane began her singing journey at Romanos Melikyan Music College in 2004. In 2007, she enrolled at the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan , where she studied with professor Larisa Mkrtchyan, graduating with a master’s degree in 2013. She also studied with renowned Armenian bass Barseg Tumanyan. In 2017, she participated in a masterclass with Barbara Frittoli. She continues to coach with Hasmik Papian. During her time at the Conservatory’s Opera Studio, Gayane presented concerts and performed roles in operas by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Puccini, and Tigranyan. Since then, she has been a soloist with the Armenian Ancient Music State Ensemble “Tagharan,” directed by Sedrak Yerkanyan. She gave her first recital with “Tagharan” in 2019, performing Baroque and Bel Canto repertoire. Gayane has been a resident soloist at “Tagharan” since 2020, giving her second recital with the ensemble in 2021. Gayane participated in the Nicola Martinucci International Voice Competition in Lucca, Italy, and in September 2020, she sang in an online masterclass with James Brian Platt, organized by the National Student Opera Society in the UK. In December 2022, she appeared as Violetta Valery in Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theater.

Daniel Kamalic, tenor

Tenor Daniel Kamalić (USA, Don Basilio/Don Curzio tenor) has been praised for his “silver-toned” (Chris Ruel, OperaWire), “big, stunning voice” (Chris Buchanan, Berkshire Fine Arts). His busy 2024-25 season included the roles of Rodolfo in La Bohème with Buffalo Opera Unlimited, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi with Opera West in Santa Fe, the title role in Werther with Modern Vintage Opera in Connecticut, Sam in Susannah with Delaware Valley Opera, Anthony in Sweeney Todd with Opera51 in Boston, and several new music performances: the role of Uziahu in the world premiere of Iris Karlin’s opera Yehudit at Hebrew Union College, Ed Cionek’s cantata “Prelude and Five Dreams of Walt Whitman” with Tribeca New Music, and Calliope Tsoupaki’s “Seductive Aria of Moenen” (sung in Medieval Dutch!) with Marshall Opera’s Oral History Project. Performances this year include the roles of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni with New York Opera Forum, Fenton and Bardolfo in Falstaff with Opera51 in Boston, and The Unicorn in the West Coast premiere and first commercial recording of Lori Laitman ‘s new opera Maya and the Magic Ring with Lyric Opera of Orange County in California. Upcoming engagements include Don Basilio and Don Curzio (covers) in Le Nozze di Figaro with Finger Lakes Opera in New York, Beadle and Pirelli (covers) in Sweeney Todd with Riverside Center for the Performing Arts in Virginia, and Felix in Greg Kallor’s Frankenstein with Opera Theater of the Rockies in Colorado. Currently, Daniel is performing the roles of Basilio and Curzio in Le Nozze Di Figaro with the Greve Music Festival in Greve, Figline, and Firenze.

Eugenij Bogdanowicz (Italia/Bialorussia, Antonio/Don Bartolo, basso)** An Italian citizen, Eugenij Bogdanowicz was born in 1985 in Minsk (Belarus). At the age of five he joined the children’s choir of the National Theatre in Warsaw, while simultaneously studying piano at the State Music School of Warsaw. After moving to Italy in 1999, he began bassoon studies with Leopoldo Armellini at the C. Pollini Conservatory in Padua, graduating in 2008. As a bassoonist, he collaborated with several orchestral institutions. He later turned to operatic singing, developing as a basso cantabile. In 2013, he performed in concerts with students of the Accademia Lirica di Osimo. In 2014, he joined the Aida tour of the AsLiCo Opera Domani project, singing Ramfis and the King.
In 2015, he won the Jury Prize at the 7th edition of the Trofeo La Fenice International Vocal Competition. In 2017, he was selected to sing Assur in Semiramide for a performance organized by Denia Mazzola Gavazzeni at Sala Piatti in Bergamo. In 2018, he performed Brahms’ Liebeslieder Op. 52 in the solo quartet version at Palazzo dell’Annona in Rovereto. In 2019, he appeared as bass soloist in Rossini’s Stabat Mater at Auditorium S. Cerri in Milan and sang Silvano in Un ballo in maschera at Teatro Verdi in Busseto. In 2022, he won second prize in the opera category of the Ferruccio Benevento Busoni Competition (Agenzia Pro Musica) and was a semifinalist at the Franco Ghitti International Vocal Competition. In 2023, he attended the “Masterclass di alto perfezionamento nel canto lirico” with Alessandra Rossi and Bruno de Simone. In 2025, he won second prize at the La Marianne Music Competition. In 2026, he joined the masterclass of Fabio Armiliato in Genoa and was selected to sing Angelotti in Tosca at Teatro Verdi di Genova (28–29 March) and later at Campo Ligure (11 July). As a chorus artist, he collaborates with major institutions including Arena di Verona, Opéra de Monte‑Carlo, Teatro Regio di Parma, and others.
