Daniel Kamalic, tenor

Tenor Daniel Kamalić has been praised for his “silver-toned” (Chris Ruel, OperaWire), “big, stunning voice” (Chris Buchanan, Berkshire Fine Arts). His busy 2024-25 season included the roles of Rodolfo in La Bohème with Buffalo Opera Unlimited, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi with Opera West in Santa Fe, the title role in Werther with Modern Vintage Opera in Connecticut, Sam in Susannah with Delaware Valley Opera, Anthony in Sweeney Todd with Opera51 in Boston, and several new music performances: the role of Uziahu in the world premiere of Iris Karlin’s opera Yehudit at Hebrew Union College, Ed Cionek’s cantata “Prelude and Five Dreams of Walt Whitman” with Tribeca New Music, and Calliope Tsoupaki’s “Seductive Aria of Moenen” (sung in Medieval Dutch!) with Marshall Opera’s Oral History Project. Performances this year include the roles of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni with New York Opera Forum, Fenton and Bardolfo in Falstaff with Opera51 in Boston, and The Unicorn in the West Coast premiere and first commercial recording of Lori Laitman ‘s new opera Maya and the Magic Ring with Lyric Opera of Orange County in California. Upcoming engagements include Don Basilio and Don Curzio (covers) in Le Nozze di Figaro with Finger Lakes Opera in New York, Beadle and Pirelli (covers) in Sweeney Todd with Riverside Center for the Performing Arts in Virginia, and Felix in Greg Kallor’s Frankenstein with Opera Theater of the Rockies in Colorado. Currently, Daniel is performing the roles of Basilio and Curzio in Le Nozze Di Figaro with the Greve Music Festival in Greve, Figline, and Firenze.
